EL Internal light circuit board

If your EL (Electro-Luminescent) gauge has lost it ability to light when you push the light button it could be a few things causing that malfunction. Inside your EL gauge there are three batteries - one to run the movement for time and two others on the internal circuit board for the light. If you have replaced these batteries and it still doesn’t light, it’s possible that the internal board may have expired from moisture exposure. Remember you need to change the O-Rings each time you replace the batteries to keep the units internal components moisture free. You may be able to (maybe, being the operative word) replace the circuit board and get the unit to “light” again. We say “maybe” because we don’t know the actual internal condition of your unit - it could be damaged in other ways.

Having said all that, you can replace the EL circuit board by purchasing a new one here. Your new board will come with two fresh batteries that must be installed by you into the board before placement inside the unit. It’s a simple procedure, once you remove the back-case off the unit, of simply removing the old circuit board and drop in the new one and reassemble. If you are going to do this procedure, please be sure to order a new “ELA” style O-Ring as well.

Note: EL Style gauges are no longer in production - so replacing the entire gauge is not possible any longer.
