Classic
series gauges are our least expensive models but don't let
that fool you, the internals use the same exact movement
found in our Signature Series units. The only
difference is the use of an alloy case that surrounds the
internals. Find your anodized cases here.
These gauges come with all the mounting hardware you need
right out of the box to mount them on any 1/4 inch screw or
bolt on your ride. Perfect for windshield acorn nuts,
switch housings etc.
Loctite© Vibra Seal® screws, chrome mounting bracket,
optional use stainless steel and chrome beauty ring, and a hex
key are all included so you can get your gauge on in minutes
and go!

One of the first practical
applications of radioactivity was the use of radium for
the excitation of zinc sulphide crystals to make them glow
in the dark. The radiation energy of the isotope was
transformed by the so-called "phoshors" (ZnS) into visible
light. Until the early seventies radium luminous compound
was widely used by the timepiece and aviation instrument
industry.
Realizing the risk of radium, RC
Tritec started in the late fifties to develop a new
self-luminous compound activated by tritium to replace
radium completely. With its very low radiotoxicity and
leaving no direct radiation outside of the watch, tritium
luminous compound was considered to be "the really safe"
alternative. 30 years later, in the early nineties,
Superlite® and Super-LumiNova® were developed and
immediately introduced to the world-wide watch industry.
Formotion's
use of RC Tritec's Super-LumiGNova® afterglow / photoluminescent pigments represent the
latest, innovative development in the field of non-radioactive lighting
for the watch industry. Based on their extremely improved light storing
capacity these new pigments are now being used for night markings on our
Night Vision watch
dials with fantastic results. Long afterglow or photoluminescent pigments operate like a "light battery".
After sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light they emit
light in the dark for many hours and can remain visible for the
whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can
be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any
ageing. Nothing else on the market even comes close!
Independent Glow Study Results:
The luminosity performance of the Formotion Super LumiNova™ gauges
based on DIN 67510 activation testing standards (5 min / 1000 LX
with Osram Ultravitalux (simulating sunlight)) and determined the
light intensities accordingly: the visibility level of 0.3 mCd/m2
= 30 nCd/cm2 is maintained for more than 8 hours.

Water
Resistant, Waterproof, Shower proof, Watertight... What's the deal?
Water resistance is measured at a static or motionless state.
As the gauge is moved in or against water, such as from the motion of driving
against rain, washing with a hose or pressure washer, pressure is added from the
velocity. While you may be driving
at 65 mph or simply washing your bike at surface level, your gauge may be
experiencing forces equal to 3 BAR (ATM). Don’t
trust simple waterproof / weatherproof (aka: shower proof) statements without
ATM ratings. That’s
why all Formotion/Citizen movement clocks and thermometers are rated to 3 ATM (5 ATM - Signature
Series) waterproof and we are the
only gauges on the market that are!

How are they made?
Each gauge, has
a built in stainless steel "Stem" affixed to and through the gauge's
back cover; giving it superior strength against stress and vibration.
Surrounding
the stem is a clear rubber washer, that aids in the gauge maintaining its
position when pulled against the beauty ring.
The
new stainless steel beauty ring incorporates a "Barrel" that
accepts the gauge's stem. Both pieces are affixed (pulled together) with a stainless socket-head screw and
2" mounting bar from behind -- giving the gauge absolute maximum security
against separation from its mounting and the vehicle.
This mounting system is impervious
to both weather and temperature and will never wear out or need to
be replaced ... ever.
And, each full mount unit can now be
run with or without the beauty ring, depending on the users design preference.
The
Stem and Barrel™ system also makes chores like changing the battery a snap; giving easy access to the gauges
internals. The system can be taken apart or put together in
seconds.
